PENANG: THE second day of The Star Property and Home Fair 2006 at the Penang International Sports Arena (Pisa) yesterday attracted thousands of people.
Many came before the fair opened at 11am. Visitors from Kedah, Perak and Perlis used the weekend to check out for bargains at the fair.
State Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Committee chairman Lau Chiek Tuan said the fair allowed housebuyers and investors quality and affordable homes. Lau had led a state MCA delegation to the fair yesterday.
Lau, who commended The Star for holding the fair, said it also enabled Malaysians working overseas to buy property for retirement and investment.
Among visitors were engineer Abdul Muhsien Yaakob, 33, and his wife Rohana Sedik, 34, a teacher in Seberang Prai.
“We came hoping to find an apartment somewhere around Bayan Baru or Bukit Jambul,” said Abdul Muhsien.
Ideal Homes Properties' marketing executive Yip Yee Vonne said the company sold RM4mil worth of property on the first day of the fair.
“We are targeting to sell property worth RM20mil,” she said.
