Malaysia My Second Home pitched in India
PRSEA (Oct 13, 2011)
In a sure sign of India’s rising affluence, Malaysia Property Incorporated (MPI), a government agency to promote corporate and individual Foreign Direct Investment, today announced an upcoming campaign launch of Malaysia My Second Home in South and North India. The campaign will be officially rolled out in three key cities, Ludhiana, Delhi and Chennai on 15, 17 and 19 October.
In each city, MM2H will be organising a presentation followed by a cocktail cum dinner which will be attended by high net-worth individuals, influential real estate consultants and the media. During the presentation, MPI will provide an overview on the types of properties available for investment, the main investment areas, prices and potential returns. A representative from the Malaysian immigration department will also be present to address queries on immigration entry formalities.
While there had been previous efforts to promote MM2H and Malaysia property investment in India in the past, they were limited to participation in sporadic trade related exhibitions. This campaign in October is part of a series of new initiatives to introduce MM2H and to position Malaysia as a real estate investment destination to a rising market of affluent Indian investors. In doing so, MPI recognises the increasing importance of this untapped market segment in further fuelling Malaysia’s thriving property sector and economy.
Chief Executive Officer of MPI, Mr Kumar Tharmalingam says, “The three-day MM2H campaign in India is the first of many joint initiatives between MM2H and MPI to offer Indian investors a more in-depth chance to understand the benefits of MM2H and navigating the rules of property investment in Malaysia. These three cities were chosen for special reasons: Ludhiana lies in the heart of Punjab and is commonly known as the Manchester of India due to its affluence while New Delhi and Chennai are known as major metro cities in India with a significant population of multi-millionaires.
This campaign comes at a time when India is on a fast growth track. The statistics paint a telling picture. When Tourism Malaysia first opened its office in India in 2000, only 45,000 Indians had visited Malaysia the year before. In 2010, an amazing number of 6,90,849 tourists from India visited Malaysia and recorded a growth of 17.1 per cent over 2009 despite it being a recessionary year.
